What is the Queen’s Prize Tournament?
Laurels will sponsor artisans to bring a project to the QPT. Laurels will provide a prize for each artisan that they sponsor for the tournament. Every artisan will go home with a prize! More details below!!

BEFORE THE EVENT:
SPONSORING
Laurels of the Midrealm may choose artisans to sponsor in the tournament. The artisans may be of any skill level and in a relationship with the Laurel or not, which means that Laurels may sponsor their apprentices, or they may decide to sponsor artisans with whom they don’t have an official relationship. Laurels are expected to mentor their artisan on the project. This mentoring can be of any level of advice and encouragement that is appropriate for both Laurel and entrant. NOTE: artisans are expected to complete work on the project themselves. At the least, a Laurel should coach their entrant on how best to present in an informed manner about their project. Proxy Laurels are permitted! Meaning, if a Laurel cannot attend the event but wishes to sponsor artisans, that Laurel may send prizes with another Laurel.
PRIZES
Each Laurel must provide a prize for each artisan that they sponsor in the Tournament, in order to assure that each artisan will receive a prize. Prizes should be of sufficient quality that they are a worthy gift to receive from a peer. Proxy Laurels are permitted! Meaning, if a Laurel cannot attend the event but wishes to sponsor artisans, that Laurel may send prizes with another Laurel (or someone else attending the event). This is NOT something that me or the event will organize for you, so please plan ahead! As a sponsor, YOU are responsible for making sure the prizes arrive at the event.
PROJECTS
Projects may be in any of the three main A&S Categories: Made Object, Performing Arts, or Research. Performing Arts entries are limited to FIVE MINUTES TOTAL. Formal documentation is NOT required for any project, however it would be beneficial to provide background information on the project at minimum. Projects may have been started at any time (meaning that they can be old projects or they can be projects made specifically for the QPT), any stage of completeness (just started to fully complete), so long as the project is period or obviously applicable to the SCA (a way to hide a modern cooler with a wooden chest, for example). Keep in mind that other sponsoring Laurels will be giving out their prizes too, so you’ll want to show your best, most dazzling project.
SIGN UPS
Artisans will sign up for the QPT via the QPT signup form. Sign ups will close ONE WEEK before the event (February 1, 2025).
